Village prepares for Ultra

The Village is committed to mitigating traffic and safety concerns, especially during the 3-day Ultra Music Festival taking place in Virginia Key on March 29, 30 and 31.

In the unlikely scenario that traffic congestion on the Rickenbacker Causeway prevents ambulance transport during Ultra, Key Biscayne Fire Rescue is prepared to evacuate patients in need of life-saving treatment by air or sea to an area hospital.

In preparation for the event, the fire chief conducted a fire boat simulation with firefighter paramedics during which they transferred a volunteer on a stretcher to a waiting City of Miami Fire Rescue Boat. In addition, helicopter evacuation drills have taken place in cooperation with Miami-Dade County Air Rescue.

Key Biscayne Fire Rescue, as well as Key Biscayne Police, are staffed appropriately to respond to any and all types of emergencies effectively and efficiently.

The Key Biscayne Police Department is deploying two police boats throughout the weekend. ATV units will patrol the beaches at night. In addition, the police chief has been working for months to coordinate with neighboring police departments to predict traffic patterns, mitigate the impact of the event, and ensure the safety of residents and visitors.
