“The Fourth of July is a special day because it’s a day where the parade committee, the rotary, the residents, the police, and fire, all come together and work very hard to make it the best day to be a Key Biscayner.”

• Thank you to the Beach Club Board for opening up to the public. The beach area north and south is usually where the barge is stationed. At show time we are going to be at mid tide with an incoming tide so be prepared if you arrive early. The tide will be coming in so the beach will be getting tighter as the day progresses.

• Louie Archambeau will be returning this year to be emcee for the evening firework’s show. As we approach the 9pm hour he will be giving updates as to when we are about to fire and start the countdown. His narration accompanies the musical soundtrack of the half hour show. This is our 26th year with Louie.

• Thank you to Mayor Mike Davey, Vice Mayor Alison McCormick, the Village Council, and Fourth of July Parade Committee for making possible our 60th Annual Parade.

• Be respectful of the beach…clean up after yourself and protect our dunes. Do not try to set up on the dunes it is an important part of the beach that protects us from hurricanes and essential to our ecosystem.

• The fireworks show was begun by Jim Brewster and Ray Sullivan.

• The fireworks show includes 2,300 shells and 8,500 illuminations.

• The Fourth of July Parade was started by Tom Sykes and Arthur Vehle.

• Happy 28th birthday Key Biscayne! Chartered on June 18, 1991.
