The Key Biscayne Beach Club Bylaws from 2002, state the following “the president of the corporation shall appoint a nominating committee of three regular members ,which said members shall not be members of the Board of Directors, which said nominating committee shall nominate at least twice the number of candidates as there are vacancies on the Board of Directors.”
Donna Rice, president since April 2018, is presiding over the Board by following the By-laws. The nominating committee MEMBERS spoke with many members who were not happy with the present day situation at the Beach Club. The complaints ranged from the appearance , cleanliness , lack of maintenance , and not receiving bills and finding out they were not paid up for last year. At last year’s meeting in April, the club was in trouble financially, but the financial report seemed to be fine. They also want to know why the Beach Club does not have a website. The new candidates would like to have emails and phone numbers to communicate with members. Contact is only by mail. Due to problems getting the ballots out by mail because membership list was not updated, the deadline to return the ballot was moved from April 1 to April 8th.
The four Board members asked to have their names added to the ballot and they were.
Sitting on a Board is a responsibility where decisions are made in the best interest of the members and the club. We need a Board that will work together to advocate for the members and be financially responsible. The Board needs to oversee the management, maintain the property and plan for the future.
Everyone loves the Beach Club. It’s our very special community haven.
Bottom line- we’re tired of hearing about the problems and not hearing or seeing results.
It’s time to have NEW Directors on the Board who CAN make changes so we can all enjoy Our Club.
There’s a lot of talk and rumors, the minutes from meetings and financial reports will answer your concerns.
If anyone would like information pertaining to the finances, minutes from the meetings, or any questions, you can email Donna Rice firstname.lastname@example.org
