Join the Ritz Carlton for an indulgent evening while visiting new showcase shop Lilly Pulitzer

The legacy of a “Queen of Prep” socialite with deep roots in South Florida has come alive in Key Biscayne. Lilly Pulitzer is the seventh shop to open in the Ritz Carlton Resort Shops.

On Thursday Nov. 15, from 6 to 9 p.m., guests can drop in for complimentary bubbly, special discounts, pop-up shops, and lots of pampering surprises at the 4th Annual Beauty & Glam Event.

“We have re-imagined our shopping experience and made dramatic changes to the seven shops on property,” said Timothy Williams, director of retail.

The Ritz’s own Coastal and Spa Boutiques will offer 20% off any retail purchase, such as their signature scented Sweet Mango and Fresh Blue candles, travel-size exfoliators and massagers.

Italian fashion from 120% Lino includes a fine selection of linen apparel for the whole family, jewelry, handbags and classic footwear. There will be a complimentary Italian necklace as a gift with purchase.

Sabbia Fine Jewelry and The Pool Shop will also be open with special offers. The Key Pantry will have food and beverages inside the store.

Extra event features are: complimentary valet parking, live entertainment with DJ, gifts with purchases, more pop-ups, and mini skin care experiences. Beauty & Glam is the Ritz Shops’ official Black Thursday event, which this year will also honor Lilly Pulitzer.

Lilly (McKim) Pulitzer came onto the fashion scene in the early 1950’s when she began designing colorful print dresses to cover up the orange juice left on her clothes from working at her Palm Beach juice stand.

A Standard Oil fortune heiress’ daughter, and schoolmate of Jacqueline Lee Bouvier, she married Peter Pulitzer, the grandson of publisher Joseph Pulitzer. They invested in orange groves after moving to South Florida.

Her “Lilly” sleeveless shift dress became highly desirable and by 1959 she was a remarkable rarity -- a woman president of her own fashion design company. Lilly Pulitzer Inc.’s main factory was in Miami.

The brand was revived in the early 1990’s and today there are 75 locations. The vibrant resort wear for women is also sold in fine retailers around the world.
